Mount Pleasant is a historic town known for its upscale lifestyle and charming communities. The city is roughly divided north and south by the Isle of Palms Connector, Rt. 517. The Southern part of Mt. Pleasant has a cozy and historic feel. The streets are lined with cute boutiques and cafes, and the old homes showcase lovely southern low-country architecture. This part of Mt. Pleasant has a bustling nightlife, with the restaurants and taverns along Shem Creek being popular gathering spots for locals and visitors alike. South Mount Pleasant is also the location of popular historic tourist destinations, like Patriot’s Point, and beautiful parks like Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. From South Mt. Pleasant, Downtown Charleston is only a ten-minute drive across the Ravenel Bridge.

Saltwater Cowboys. This restaurant specializes in fresh local seafood and smoked meats. Saltwater Cowboys has a delightful atmosphere with large windows that take advantage of the incredible view. Another favorite is Tavern & Table, which shines with southern hospitality and a warm, casual, and rustic-chic ambiance. The waterfront deck, accented with strings of Edison lights, is a beautiful spot for dinner and drinks with friends. The Post House Inn is a lovely inn and tavern with an Old World charm that feels like a step back to a simpler time. The menu showcases seasonal favorites and classic cocktails.
 
Mount Pleasant also offers residents access to some fantastic shopping options. Old Village Mt. Pleasant has streets lined by fabulous small boutiques and gift shops. The Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is a more modern open-air shopping venue with a movie theater and 60 stores, including Peloton. Another iconic local favorite is the Parrot Surf Shop, a great place to stop for gear before heading to the beach. Mt. Pleasant is also home to Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.

Mt. Pleasant offers residents a host of things to do. Residents are only a short drive from local beaches at Sullivan’s Island and the Isle of Palms, where they can enjoy endless swimming, surfing, fishing, boating, and sunbathing opportunities. Mt. Pleasant is just minutes from historic Downtown Charleston, where residents can find fantastic waterfront parks, unique shopping venues, and outstanding restaurants. Boone Hall Plantation is a beautiful historic plantation famous for its “Avenue of Oaks.” The plantation has been featured in several high-profile movies, including The Notebook and Scarlett. Boone Hall Plantation is a working farm that hosts concerts and special events, including the Halloween Fright Night and the spring Strawberry Festival. Mount Pleasant is also home to the highly-anticipated Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade and the Sweetgrass Cultural Arts Festival.
